The Hamilton County Republican Women held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 17, with a large attendance.
Our new project—“A Scholarship”—to a deserving UTC student was discussed. Dean Jackson and Ida Cotter were appointed to proceed with the details. They will be working with the faculty and chairman of the scholarship committee. A scholarship tea is planned for May.
It was a pleasure to have five of the City Council candidates to speak to us briefly. These were George Patten, Linda Bennett, Marti Rutherford, Deborah Scott and Manny Rico. This was followed by a lively question and answer session.
Each member was asked to write a note to the president asking for some suggestions for the new year. This was much appreciated.
We were glad to have Connie Weathers and Marilyn Vincent visit us. Marilyn gave a brief talk on the upcoming State Convention in Chattanooga, which will be in October.
Dues were collected for the year--$15.00.
