The Hamilton County Republican Women met for their monthly meeting on July 15 at Country Place Restaurant with standing room only.
After the devotional, pledge, reading of the minutes, and treasurer’s report, Mary Jane Reilly, legislative chairman, gave a most interesting report on the gas situation.
The many guests were welcomed and all the new members were recognized.
Linda Hullander’s family was remembered in the loss of her mother-in-law and also the family of Susan Cooper who passed away recently. (Susan was a former president of HCRW.)
Sherre Bales, yearbook chairman, and Ida Cotter reported the yearbook would soon be ready to deliver.
It was decided not to have a booth at the County Fair, but instead have a booth (fundraiser) at “Bark-in-the Park” in September.
Eva Jo Smith reported the articles (box) for the military guy had been bought and mailed.
Recipes for the state cookbook were collected.
Next meeting the members are asked to bring paper goods for “Teen Challenge.”
Connie Weathers gave a report on the “Women for McCain.” Shirts are available at GOP Headquarters from Connie.
Jim Hammond spoke briefly and invited everyone to the “ice cream” party for him at Harold Coker’s barn. (Many of us went and it was very enjoyable.)
Patsy Henry introduced our speaker, Gary Henry (her son), a local attorney, who was a most elegant speaker. His topic was “Abortion” and what the law is according to the U.S. Constitution.
Early voting is 7-18 to 8-2. Election day 8-7.
